Happy New Year everyone! Here is our final smoothie recipe round up…and they’re healthy too so it’s just in time for all of those healthy new year’s resolutions I’ve included a few bonus beverage recipes to get you off on the right foot this year too…Enjoy!

Javier’s Morning Sunshine

1 frozen banana

1 handful goji berries, soaked

1 handful incan berries, soaked

1 T lucuma

1 T green hemp seed meal

1/2 c almond milk*

1/2 tsp bee pollen

water to blend (approximately 1 c)

Blend well and enjoy! Can also add cacao powder for a creamy chocolate treat
* To make almond milk, blend 1/4 c raw almonds (soaked for 12 hours and drained) with 1 cup of water (blend well until creamy) and strain through a nut mylk bag.

Michelle’s Deep Purple Delight

2 c frozen mixed berries

3 T spirulina crunchies

4 T lucuma

2 tsp maca

1-1/2 c water (or more if needed to blend)

1 tsp vanilla powder

few pinches cinnamon

optional: handful of spinach or 2 T chia seeds

Blend well in a high speed blender and eat with a spoon. I like to add spinach if I’m craving more greens or chia seeds if I’m needing an extra boost to get through the day. Feel free to add sweetener of choice if desired as well…Enjoy!

Raw Matcha Latte

One of my favorite after dinner treats used to be the matcha latte I would get from a favorite sushi restaurant of mine in NYC. The creamy mellow sweetness had me hooked everytime …Of course it was made with thick frothy milk and sweetened with sugar. So excited to have come up with this thick frothy treat to satisfy my matcha latte craving without the milk or the sugar! You can even add some raw protein powder for the perfect post workout treat.

1 c green hemp milk*

1 T lucuma powder

1 tsp matcha powder

1/4 tsp vanilla powder

raw honey or sweetener of choice to taste

Blend all ingredients except matcha powder well in high speed blender until smooth. Add matcha powder and blend again. Yum!
*To make green hemp milk, blend 1/4-1/3 c green hemp seed meal (depending on desired thickness) with 1 c water and strain through a nut mylk bag.

Vanilla Goji Lemonade

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! This is an awesome drink to keep you hydrated throughout the day (and perfect for those who need a little extra flavor in their water to make it palatable)!

24 oz purified water

3 handfuls goji berries (approximately 3/4c)

optional: 2 T chia seeds

optional: vanilla stevia

Put 3 handfuls of goji berries in a 32 oz jar and add lemon, vanilla, chia if desired, and a few drops of vanilla stevia if you desire a sweeter drink. Fill jar with water, place lid on the jar and shake, making sure that all gojis are covered with water. Let jar sit in the fridge for 3 hours or longer so gojis get fully rehydrated and plump. Drink as is allowing for a delightful little goji surprise with each sip or drink the water first and use a spoon to finish the gojis at the end. Adding chia will simply give your lemonade an additional boost of hydration and fiber. No need to worry about the chia changing the lovely sweet lemon taste as chia is flavorless

It’s getting cold here in Patagonia and I’m finding myself drawn to sweets more and more these days (don’t even get me started on the chocolate situation!)…Luckily we have so many amazing superfoods here to play around with.
A low-glycemic smoothie recipe for guest contributor Eva Chrostowski.

Periodically I receive a recipe from a customer, friend, employee or random stranger. Today we have a recipe from Eva Chrostowski who follows a Phase 1 Low-Glycemic diet. She’s sharing one of her favorite smoothies with us today.

This smoothie is a great source of vegan Omega 3 & 6 without the heaviness of oil. This will keep you going for hours without an increase in blood sugar levels. Excellent source of dietary fiber, especially if you add the zucchini. For those who find maca on its own harder to swallow, the flavors of this smoothie combine really well and are even mellowed out by the zucchini. Feel free to experiment with other spices too! Green Leaf stevia is less processed than white or liquid stevia and actually helps stabilize blood sugar levels to keep your pancreas and liver happy.

The water and mineral content of the Himalaya salt will help you stay hydrated, it also brings out the sweetness of the stevia. Remember that chia can hold up to 14 times its weight in water so be sure to stay hydrated through out the day to keep things moving along in your colon. Drinking chia smoothies regularly (along with hydrating adequately, gentle exercise like yoga and a diet high in raw vegetables) is bound to keep your internal elimination organs healthy and clean. Chia’s absorbing properties help draw out toxins and the hard shell can clean the intestinal walls.

All in all, a fabulous life-affirming smoothie! May you enjoy radiant health & happiness!!!

Chia Amazingness
a low-glycemic smoothie

5 tbs. Chia Seeds
2 cups filtered, spring or Reverse Osmosis water
1 small organic zucchini
several pinches Himalayan salt
1/2 tsp Super Maca Powder
organic green leaf stevia, to taste
organic cinnamon, to taste

Blend in a high-speed blender until smooth and seeds are broken apart. Experiment with water to see what your preference is. Keep in the refrigerator for a few hours for a thicker smoothie. Add ice cubes to the blender in the summer for a chilled version.

Optional:For fast oxidizers who require more fuel and are able to digest fat easily, add a tablespoon of Coconut Oil to this smoothie. It tastes great!

Add blueberries or Jarrah Bee Pollen for more sweetness.

For the next two weeks I’ve decided to do a low sugar diet. Thanks to working at Vivapura and being surrounded by so many high-quality low-sugar products I'm finding it is going smooth so far…all two days of it!

Often in the evenings I find myself wanting a creamy, warm and soothing beverage. Usually I'll make a chai maca milk which is perfect but usually sweetened. I rummaged through my cupboards trying to find the right combination of things that wouldn't require a concentrated sweetener. This little Cashew Spice Milk is what I came up with.

Cashew Spice Milk

1/2 cup Raw Cashews
1 tbs. mesquite
1 tbs. Lucuma Powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. Vanilla Powder
1 tsp. suma powder
stevia to taste
pinch of himalayan pink salt
3 cups water
2 tbs. Cacao Butter, melted

Combine all ingredients except cacao butter in a high-speed blender. Blend on high. While running slowly drizzle in cacao butter. You can add a little warm water for a warm beverage of some ice cubes for a cool, frothy delight.
